SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern
The Prelims exam consists of Objective Tests for 100 marks which are conducted online. The duration for each subject is 20 minutes i.e. total 1 hour.

SBI Clerk Salary 2024: Career Growth
State Bank of India offers a great career growth for all its employees. If a candidate joins SBI at a young age then he can reach the level of General Manager. There are mainly two ways in which SBI clerks can get promoted –
- In-cadre promotion – Employees get an opportunity to get promotion within their existing cadre or post based on their performance, experience and eligibility criteria.
- Promotion to office cadre – Employees can also be promoted to higher cadres like officer posts through a structured promotion process that considers their skills, qualifications and performance.
SBI Clerk In-Cadre Promotion
The in-cadre promotion is based on home posting and it is a time-bound promotion
- Employees are paid a special allowance of Rs 1800 per month in addition to the total pay and when the associate completes 10 years of service, the associate is promoted to the post of senior associate. This allowance is not included for calculating the basic pay.
- After twenty years of service, the associate will become a special associate. Here a special allowance of Rs 2500 is paid every month. After reaching this level, the allowance is considered for calculating the basic pay.
- An Associate will become a Chief Associate after completing 30 years of service. After reaching this level, a special allowance of Rs 3500 is paid and this amount is considered for calculating the basic pay.
SBI Clerk Promotion To Officer Cadre
After completing three years of service, an associate becomes a trainee officer. To become an officer, candidates are required to clear the JAIIB and CAIIB exams conducted by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. Candidates also have to clear the internal written exam and interview. After clearing the written exam, a probation period of two years is required and after that candidates appear for the interview. Candidates who are successful in the interview will be inducted into the Middle Management Grade (Scale-2). The rest are placed in the clerical cadre
